Places I Visited:
• Tegucigalpa- Walk in the city.
• Utila- One of the best place to scuba dive in the world.
• Copan- Gateway to Copan Ruins, very good food and little walk in the downtown.
I entered the immigration office in Honduras here; I experienced a similar situation to that of Nicaragua. Numerous people are crossing the country, and after 2 hours in line, I went successfully through the immigration. I planned to take a bus to Tegucigalpa and then change the bus to La Ceiba(utila) on the same day, after few hours of waiting I found a bus going to Tegucigalpa.
The bus was too slow, I traveled a distance of 200kms for 6 hours to Tegucigalpa, so awful. I got down at Tegucigalpa and immediately headed for the bus station going to La Ceiba in a taxi, but I missed my bus to La Ceiba, I was 10 min late. Then I told my cab driver to find me a hotel to stay for a night, so I can take early morning bus to la ceiba he took me to one of the scariest neighborhood in the city near the bus station for an easy access to the bus station the next morning.
On getting to the hotel, the cab driver warned me not to come out of the hotel after it gets dark I agreed with him, went to my room and locked the door. Out of curiosity, I peeped through my bedroom window to check what is happening in this neighborhood. I saw some scary things; I saw people shouting, some few persons sobbing with that I couldn’t even sleep the whole night. I even saw some illegal activities going on there, I didn’t remember to have my dinner before going to bed as I was freaking scared to go out.
The next day early morning i was scared to walk to the bus station, I took a taxi to bus station and boarded a bus. I needed to take a ferry from La Ceiba to Utila. On getting to la Ceiba, I boarded a taxi to the ferry stand and took a boat. While in Utila, I checked into my hostel and toured the street. While walking through the street, I found a barber shop in between and went inside for a haircut; he charged me double of the local price and gave me the worst haircut.
As I was walking on the street later that day i met 2 Indian people who are on a 4-day vacation, we went to a local bar, and we were opportune to witness a party on the beach, I got back to the hostel around 3 am. I lost these Indians somewhere in the party I don’t even remember.
The following day, I went to the scuba diving in Utila which has few of the most amazing creatures in the ocean. After scuba diving, I had to rest for that day.
On the next day, I took a boat to La Ceiba and took a bus to Copan; we had a stopover. I immediately went into a restaurant where I had my lunch then, the bus driver was already hurrying me to get into bus that the pit stop time is over.
I got on the bus, and we continued our journey. On our way going, I realized I forgot my phone in the restaurant; I told the bus driver to stop and hold the bus for 10 minutes so that I can go back and search for my phone but he refuses. He told he would stop and leave me there, so I agreed and got down the bus and rushed to restaurant started searching for the phone for more than 30 minutes but I couldn’t find it.
More than the phone the pictures and documents in the phone were important to me. I lost all of them, and after few minutes I found another bus and moved to Copan. On getting to Copan, I walked down the streets and found a hostel in Copan where I met a Canadian and Chinese who wanted to check in but the hostel was full. So, we walked down to another hotel few meters away and we all agreed shared a room in the hotel. It was a sad day indeed.
Next day, the Canadian and I visited Copan ruins. My Chinese friends left the city early the next morning. Spent half of the day in the ruins and in the evening we visited the center of the city as this day was weekend we saw lot of people hanging out in the park in the center of the city we spent little time there and later we left to hotel.
Next day, I boarded a vehicle to the border, and my next destination was El Salvador.
