Hello, I am Abhijeet Koona. I was born on a bright sunny morning in one of the largest Indian city Hyderabad and brought up in a communal Indian society. At some point in my life, I moved to the United States for my Master’s degree program at Wilmington University, USA.
I am a software engineer by profession but asides that, I am also a certified Scuba diver, trained horseback rider, fitness enthusiast, and equally pursuing skydiving certification (this is currently on hold).
In the spirit of being adventurous, I started learning Karate when I was a kid (even though I didn’t end up practicing it), riding a motorbike at age 11 and learned how to drive at 14 while I was in India. On my first move to the USA, I stayed with people of different backgrounds from Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Russia, and India. I learned that everyone had their different mindset, then I realized that I know very little or close to nothing.
As Indians, we always thought differently about Pakistanis, but the Pakistani I stayed with was a fantastic guy, and we became a really good friend. I realized then that how a person treats you depend on how you react to and receive a person. I love adventures, meeting new people and learning new things. This motivated me to begin my travel to different countries in the world.
My first two international trips were with my friends. It was exciting, but learning to me was restricted due to a lot of distractions, then I thought of traveling alone. On my last day of my master’s class I packed my bag and went for it (travelling alone). We think traveling alone could be boring, but when we are alone, we are curious to meet new people and make them friends. For example, the third time I travelled to Thailand with my Canadian friends for one week, I had no interest in meeting new people.
I learned a lot during my travels like respecting people, socializing, patience, and strength; I also learned to love myself above all. Traveling creates a room where we meet lots of people from different comfortable life and backgrounds. I happened to meet someone who has been diabetic since the age of 4 and I also met one who survived from cancer at the age of 18 and a whole lot of other experiences which after seeing and listening to, I felt my problems were nothing.
I had distinct and different experience in different countries. Take for instance, Cenote diving in Mexico, trekking the Torres del Paine trail, kayaking on bio luminous bay in Puerto Rico, downhill cycling on death road Bolivia, head down zip lining above 1000ft in Ecuador, jumping off the 100 ft bridge into water in Guatemala , partying in Miami, bus ride on route 40 in Argentina, visiting the last city in the world “Ushuaia” Argentina, vintage car ride in Cuba, visiting my friends and family in Chile, trespassing abandoned places somewhere in the world, desert safari in Dubai, firing AK 47 gun in Vietnam, volcano boarding in Nicaragua, visiting wonders of the world(I visited 3 out of 7 already) and more.
I also enjoy myself by partying, but it all depends on the city I found myself, people I met and my plans for that day.
In life, it’s important you do what gives you joy. Yes, joy! I love being adventurous. I have allowed traveling to take the front seat of my passion. This drive has led me to meet people around the world and learn something new. I am confident my little life experiences will inspire you as you get some tips, advice, and tricks.
