Places I Visited:
• Port-au-Prince- doing a day tour.
• Jacmel- Port city with good beaches, trekking, visiting waterfalls.
As I was traveling to Haiti with the 2 other guys from Germany, I met in the hostel at Santo Domingo. We got to Port Au Prince safely, and we had lunch somewhere around the bus station. After lunch we took a taxi and went to a guest house, I didn’t book a hostel because I couldn't find any in Port Au Prince but here I couch surfed for the first time. I called my couch surfer so he can guide me on the route to his place but he didn’t pick up the phone, I left a message on his phone. I had no choice than to follow these guys to their guest house because I needed to stay.
The following day, my couch surfer replied to me saying he would pick me up in the guest house. I waited for him in the guest house while the Germans left for a tour. He picked me up later, and we went to his place and spent the day with his friends in his neighborhood.
With my couch surfer in Haiti
He was even couch surfing the other Canadian guy, so next day, the Canadian guy had some work in the city, so we went out with him.
With Dodley and my Canadian friend at waterfall near jacmal
The following day, we went to Jacmal to spend some time and visit a waterfall located like 2 hours away from his place. We took a bus from port of prince and then from there we hired a motorcycle taxi to get to waterfall. On getting to Jacmal, I had no local currency on me, so we struggled to find an ATM, after a 30 minutes’ walk; I found an ATM and got some money. Finally, we got to the waterfall, took a dip in there. It was an interesting journey, and after that tiring day, we came back and slept on the terrace of the couch surfers’ house.
The next morning I walked down to the airport to get to my next destination which was Cuba from Miami.
